Ruddigore

So my mom told me that if I didn't post this, she would. So here you go mom, and to everyone else, here's my exciting news!!!

About two weeks ago I got an email from a master student/producer of zero-budget productions. He wanted to know if he could come and listen to me sing because he was looking for singers to be in his upcoming productions. I of course told him yes and he came and listened to me sing a few of my arias.

He called me about a week later and asked me to play a role in a Gilbert and Sullivan opera named Ruddigore. The role is Rose Maybud, and is THE soprano role. I am really excited about it.

Something that is pretty neat is that they had already had auditions and he didn't like any of the sopranos who auditioned for him and went searching. Someone recommended that he listen to me and another girl, and he chose me for the role. How neat. I am very very excited.

You can wikipedia the opera and get a synopsis. I am the maiden. We will be performing it at the end of September. If you want to come let me know, and I can give you the performance dates.

Maybe we could make it a family affair if we could find the right price tickets, knowing the dates of the opera.

Congrats Halley! That is so super cool! At the BYU shindig that we went to, Lisa Hopkins Seegmiller sang (she is in the Capitol Hill ward- beautiful red hair-don't know if you remember her but she has a wikipedia page) and I thought of you. One of the songs that she sang was "Think of Me" from Phantom of the Opera, and I always think of your beautiful voice when I watch the movie version of that play.

Ok, so after I posted my first comment I went and wikipedia'd Ruddigore. Sounds great and from what I hear from other comments and from the one video I heard on your grandparents blog it looks like they were smart in picking you!! How nice to be headhunted out for something like that!! I seriously would go in a heartbeat...I happen to really really like opera...but Clay said there's no way he's going to an opera :( sad day. Maybe I'll go alone haha!! Good luck and congrats again!!
