I have decided that I want a camera, a nice, expensive camera.
One of those ones that can change lenses...
That you can do manually, and automatically.
This would be a Digital SLR.
I used to want a simple point and shoot that was easy, light and affordable.
So I started looking with a few things that I knew I HAD TO HAVE on my point and shoot in mind.
None of them had all of the things I wanted on one single camera.
One had continuous shooting for sports...
Another had a fast shutter speed...
Another had settings so that I could make things look sharp or blurry when I felt like it...
Another had a great quality digital screen on the back to view pictures....
But what one had all of that???? Not any that I could find that were to my liking.
I found ones with many of those options, but not one with all of those options.
So, what did I do? I spent my camera money elsewhere.
Now, I have finally decided that I will spend a "little" more money on something that will actually do ALL of these things... but now I have to start saving again.
Boo.
I am pretty excited though.
I haven't been this excited about getting something I wanted for quite a while.
So I went to a camera store with a friend.
We spent maybe 7 minutes in there before walking out.
Cameras are so confusing! I just had to up and leave! I was on overload because of all the things I could do with a DSLR that I couldn't get past all of the bells and whistles. Is this really what I want???
So all dazed and confused I started researching on the computer.
I decided to go to the camera store again the next day. I felt much more comfortable and knew some questions to ask.
But now, another question... What brand do I want? Oh boy. Nikon or Cannon?
I have friends that swear by both brands. I am leaning more toward the Cannon. It is supposedly more user friendly (help me!) and I personally think the quality of the digital screen on the back is better.
But I really have no idea.
What are your opinions?

I think you'd probably be happy with either one! You've always had a hard time making decisions, my dear sanguine daughter!
I can tell that my choice of brand of camera didn't stay on your list very long :)
GOOD LUCK!
(cute blog post)
I personally like Nikon better, it has a sharper crisper picture (in my humble opinion). Good luck, it is a world all it's own :)
Im a huge fan of Nikon. I have a Nikon D40X which is really simple to use. Not complicated at all. Just expect to read up on how to do things, and once you get the hang of it, it's fun :) I was blown away at first too, but i promise it gets easier!

I love my Canon Rebel XSi. It is simple to use and lenses are less expensive for canon I hear. I love my nifty fifty lens for taking pictures of the kids. But I also have a canon point and shoot that does everything my rebel does except change lenses. It is a canon G10. I think I would go that route if I were you. I love my rebel but it is not nearly as portable as the G10 so I take the point and shoot everywhere and it has way better zoom. I mostly use the rebel to take portraits. Good luck.
Well you know my opinion :) But I'm only Nikon 'cause I couldn't decide between the two and I let the price do the talking. I do love my Nikon, though! And it doesn't hurt that everyone in my family is Nikon :) I really don't think you'd go wrong with either camera :) Good luck and I can't wait to hear what you decide :)
Thank you everyone for the comments. It is interesting how many people have chosen Nikon over Cannon.
Chrissy- Besides the lenses being less expensive what made you decide on your Cannon?
Everyone at the stores seem to think Cannon is better where as most people I talk to have Nikon. Is is a price thing? Or is Nikon just better??
Mom- Your choice of camera isn't a Digital SLR nor do they make one... otherwise your brand would have made the list :)
Thank you all for your comments! Love you all!
I have a Canon 60D. Love it. Takes nice HD movies as well. Here is a good camera review site:

I have always been told that Canon's are better cameras and a little more user friendly and I like the lenses you can get for them. They are a little cheaper it seems :)
